Gifts of Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities can offer tax benefits while also supporting our work to free the innocent and prevent wrongful convictions. When you transfer ownership of securities to the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, you will receive a charitable deduction for the full market value as of the date of the transfer, and you will incur no capital gains tax subject to IRS limitations.

Planned Giving
Other types of gifts, including bequests, life insurance policies and gifts from charitable trusts, also support the Project’s work to reform the criminal justice system. Please contact your legal or financial advisor about these possible methods and let us know if you need any input from us.
Bequests
A simple way to leave a legacy gift to the Pennsylvania Innocence Project is by making a bequest in your will. If you already have a will, you can include the Pennsylvania Innocence Project by making a provision. Please check with your legal advisor about making this provision in your will.
Sample language:
“I give to the Pennsylvania Innocence Project the sum of $_____ (or __% of my residuary estate) for the unrestricted use and purposes of the organization [or specify restricted purpose].”
Gifts from Retirement Accounts
Donors over the age of 70-1/2 may support the Project’s work by making charitable gifts up to a total of $100,000 each year from their IRA or other retirement accounts. Please contact your legal or financial advisor about this possible giving method and let us know if you need any input from us.
Donor Advised Fund
If you wish to give to the Project from a Donor-Advised Fund, please contact your fund administrator. You may be able to login to your account and make the donation directly from your account’s online portal. Please contact the administrator of your fund for more information on how to do so.
